The way out....
What is the way out of this? When we are heading back out into the business of making money, what will we be choosing as the direction we want to head?
Already I can see the big business push to get back to "business as usual", meaning a tiny percentage of people will be making millions daily (to add to their billions) while the rest of us struggle with the rat race, distracted by the headlines, worried about falling behind, confused by conflicting information that is screamed at us all day and night by those who do a really good job of making us believe the lie. Or of discrediting the truth until it's not so obvious any more.
That's what Trump and the 1% want us to get back to.
Let me ask you a question:
Why do you think the chronically homeless are left to fend for themselves on the streets of our cities? You may remember that Ronald Reagan closed all the asylums. They said it was because there were abuses, but if there were abuses, the solution would have been to put in regulation and oversight. Hire inspectors and fund investigations, then prosecute the offenders.
The solution is most definitely NOT just closing those institutions down and releasing the inmates into the general populace. But that's what happened.
These people cannot take care of themselves. They cannot get or hold a job. They cannot remember to take their medicines, or they can just decide not to. They can't dress themselves properly. No one keeps them clean. No one gives them a safe place to sleep. No one feeds them.
Are we just so uncaring as a society that this is okay, somehow? You can't make the argument that these people are 'making their own choices' because they are not aware enough to know what choices they are making. They are like 2 year olds. They don't know any better. They are not mentally equipped to take care of themselves.
But we just walk on by, try to look the other way, when we see them on the street. We ignore the screamed obsceneties, the smell, the shopping cart full of junk and rags.
I know why these people are out there on the street rather than safe in an asylum. They are there to serve as a reminder to the rest of us. A sub-conscious hit every day that if we are not careful, we will end up on the street. Like these guys.
Now that it has become so obvious that the 1% don't give a shit if we die, as long as they continue to make money, I am asking. Are we going to go back to that?
They call people who want to help "Bleeding Heart Liberals". Really? What does that make the others; Stone Hearted Conservatives, or Rock Headed Conservatives maybe. It doesn't matter, really because both of these labels were put out in the public awareness to divide us. To distract us from the real danger, the real enemy.
There is a conspiracy to keep us all at each other's throats, or so overstimulated we cannot think straight. Yes, this is a conspiracy theory. But calling it a 'conspiracy theory' does not make it less valid as a theory, and it is a so blatant it can hardly be called a theory, although the conspirators are quick to discredit the idea, and those who speak of it. Crazy Conspiracy Theorists, they say.
The 1% really just want to keep controlling everything, keep raking in the bucks no matter what the consequences to regular folks or to the planet. Saying that the Coronavirus doesn't recognize class is disengenuous, as it very much discriminates against those who are poor and weak, live in overcrowded conditions and can't afford to hide away under heavy security. Thus if you are in the 1%, your chances of catching it go down quite substantially.
As a member of the 1%, you can afford private jets, private clubs, private security forces, private doctors, etc. etc. etc. Private teams of cleaners, shoppers, intermediaries who have a budget to hire even more people to do all the dangerous stuff like shopping. Teams of disinfectors to go over everything that's purchased for you with the aim of killing any virus particles that might otherwise get to you.
And then they can force us to go to work. And just like there are always scabs who'll take union jobs during a strike, there are folks who are willing to go against their own self-interest to support the oppressors. So if you're not willing to go out and risk your life, well, that's okay, you'll just lose your unemployment benefits and medicare and these other scabs will take your jobs. Your choice.
Because that's how they roll.
